What I Do When My Family Gets Sick

Updated: Nov 11, 2020

It's that time of year, SICKNESS, it's going to happen sooner or later. And when it does these are the things I ususally do when it hits us.

At first they don't want anything to eat or drink, which is fine in the beginning. And then they start to get thirsty and dehydrated, so instead of giving them gatorade, I give them a probiotic drink.

This one from Doctor D's is one my kids actually like. You can water it down in the beginning if you need to. But I usually just give it to them, a small amount, and tell them to drink it slowly. It seems to get the virus moving on OUT!! Their favorite flavors are Tart Cherry and Concord Grape. I actually drink a probiotic everyday, I like the cherrry one, it helps with my arthritis too.

They don't usually feel like eating, so I make sure they are taking a vitamin when they are sick to get the nutrients they need. I usually rely on food to get most of their nutrients daily, so this vitamin is actually a food based vitamin, which I like.

Saltine crackers are a must when they want to try to eat something, I love these from Late July. And of course homemade chicken noodle soup, I use bone broth, so they are getting the nutrients from that. I make a big batch, and freeze the leftovers for times when someone does get sick and I don't have the ingredients to make the soup. I freeze them in glass jars in individual servings. And of course REST!!! Hopefully, some of these ideas will help your family out when sickness rolls around. I hope everyone stays HEALTHY! What are some things you guys like to do when your family gets sick?

I love this quote from Hippocrates, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"
